What is this all about?
Confluence. The Confluence of Global and Local, of you and me. It’s also about Revealing. Joining our energies and Revealing minds and spirits. And it’s about Conjuring the appearance of a major force in the empowerment of the creative commons.
MySpace.com has decided to open an office SOMEWHERE in Spain; in Barcelona, an ever increasing number of people are rising to the challenge and revealing that HERE the perfect confluence of local and global creative energies exists to welcome such a company. We want to demonstrate that Barcelona offers a special and potent blend of creativity and quality of life, ideal for hosting creative interactive activities; that in fact our city radiates creativity and quality of life and that where it doesn’t, the seeds are plenty and the ground fertile.
Hearing what you have to say and sharing your contribution. Providing a platform for debating and collaborating in the construction of the city of our dreams. barcelonawantsmyspace is listening, people are taking action, collectively and individually. The exchange has begun, let’s bring it into focus.
This effort is not sponsored by any definable entity, has no government body or political organism behind it, and is not connected to any private company or establishment forces of the city, whether they be creative, cultural, political or economic. All alliances are coincidental and/or miraculous, odd by nature.
We are not MySpace!
Never heard of MySpace?
MySpace is an Internet company and the sixth most visited website.
It’s the biggest social network of the Internet. Its users upload photos and videos, recommend music or communicate with other users.
Why are we doing this?
We believe that the presence in Barcelona of companies embracing new technologies favors a social and economic dynamic that empowers and facilitates the individual spirit and the creative commons: Isn’t that preferable to the Barcelona of bricks and tourism of the masses? We think so.
To succeed in attracting companies of this kind and stature would demonstrate that a place which combines creativity and quality of life can be home to both innovative enterprises and enterprising professionals.
What do we earn or win with all this?
Economically, nothing.
But we like to think we can toss our little grain of sand into the building of a Barcelona of knowledge and creativity.
